Sunderland have been strongly linked with the young midfielder in recent months, whilst Wigan, Tottenham and Newcastle are also said to be aware of the player's situation along with German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Reports had claimed that Ba has turned down Le Havre's offer of a contract, as he looked set to seal a move to the Premier League.
But a Le Havre spokesman told Sky Sports that the club did not want to dwell on the future of their prospect and said he has not turned down a new contract.
The player himself admitted that a new deal may not be in offing and told Sky Sports: "I am not in a hurry to sign a new contract, we will wait until the end of the season and sit down together.
"Le Havre has been good to me and I have the utmost respect for the club."
