At the 2014 Grammys (Jan. 26), there were way more hits than misses and hardly any red carpet trainwrecks. There was an abundance of blush-hued, strapless, sleeveless and frilly-femme frocks. We’ve weeded through all the looks, and these were our absolute favorites and picks for best dressed.
Kacey Musgraves‘ blush, tiered Armani Prive was as architectural as it was femme.
Rita Ora‘s sparkly and short Lanvin looked green or gold, depending on how the light hit it. It was so different than what she normally rocks. Well done for this, RiRi. Yeah, we went there.
Katy Perry‘s musical note Valentino reminded us of Katy of yore. You know, the one that wore Hershey’s Kiss dresses. This was playful, princess-y and whimsical.
Ciara glittered in gold Pucci, wrapping that baby bump in 24 karats! It was flattering and sexy for the expectant CiCi.
Taylor Swift‘s Gucci gown was edgy and she owned it, thanks to the chainmail-like construction.
Scarlet lady Miranda Lambert showed off her shapely figure in a custom Pamella Roland. In a sea of sparkly neutrals, she stood out with her fiery hued, sideboob-showing frock.
Sara Bareilles was utterly darling in a Blumarine frock. It was so delicate, but she added some edge with red accessories. Her hair was admittedly a nod to Katniss Everdeen, too. So even when J. Law‘s not there at a Hollywood event, she is.
Beyonce‘s lacy Michael Costello dress might be polarizing, but it was so unique and somewhat racy, thanks to the cutouts and mermaid shape. But in typical Bey fashion, the dress was elevated by her confidence. She wore the dress; it didn’t even think of trying to wear her.
Ariana Grande is known for her ladylike, girly frocks and her floral, black and white Dolce + Gabbana felt very party-like. She stayed true to herself.
Anna Faris’ Grammy look reminded us a bit of Reese Witherspoon at the 2007 Oscars, with the shape of her blue Fitriani dress and her bangs. But we loved this style and look on Anna. At the Grammys. In 2014. The color was unique, too.
