The adaptation of the Henry Fielding novel is now out to cast and will commence production in early 2014.

Scotland-born director Tom Vaughan is in final talks to direct Tom Jones, based onHenry Fielding's classic novel The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, for London-based CrossDay Productions.
Vaughan, whose credits include What Happens in Vegas, will direct the bawdy comedy from an adapted script byMatthew Faulk and Mark Skeet(Vanity Fair). The film is set to start production early next year in the U.K. No cast is yet attached.

Added Vaughan: “I am thrilled to be directing such an influential and iconic piece of work and am now in the midst of finding our own Tom Jones and the rest of the cast.”
Considered to be one of the most influential English novels ever written, Tom Jones tells the story of an abandoned child discovered on the Somerset property of a kind, wealthy landowner, Squire Allworthy. Taken in and brought up by the kind squire, Tom grows into a honest, kindhearted and lust-filled youth.
Inevitably, he falls in love with his neighbor's daughter, Sophia Western, whose family opposes the courtship because of his status as a bastard child. He's ultimately redeemed by the love of Sophia as he battles the class structure of his time.
Previous incarnations include Tony Richardson's Oscar-winning film that made Albert Finney a star.
CrossDay's latest production, Summer in February, starring Dominic Cooper, Dan Stevens andEmily Browning, will be released in the U..K on June 14.
Vaughan is repped by London-based United Agents and CAA.
