Acer is reportedly working on a 7.9-inch Android tablet, which is dubbed as Iconia A1-810. The specifications and photographs of this tablet have been leaked by French retailer RueduCommerce.
As per the leaked information, this tablet will sport a 7.9-inch display with 1024X768p resolution. The tablet will run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Acer Iconia A1-810 will reportedly be powered by MediaTek's quad-core MT8125 processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM. The tablet will come with 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.
The tablet will sport with 5-megapixel primary camera and VGA front camera and is expected to be launched around Computex, to be held in the month of June.
The tablet was reportedly priced at $250 but if reports in DigiTimes are to be believed, then the company is already contemplating on lowering the price to $150. The website claims that the price correction has been done so that this tablet is able to compete against iPad mini.
Acer is already offering its Iconia B1 tablet (Review | Pictures) with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) in India carrying a price tag of Rs. 7,999. This tablet was unveiled at CES 2013. It sports a 7-inch display with 1024x600 resolution and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor (MTK 8317T) alongside 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It features a microSD card to expand the available storage by another 32GB. Connectivity options on the Acer Iconia B1 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Micro-USB. A 0.3-megapixel front camera is thrown-in for good measure.
The company is also offering a 16GB version of Acer Iconia B1 tablet in Europe, but this version is yet to make its way to India.
Acer had earlier set a forecast of shipping five million tablets in 2013. However, buoyed by the performance of its Iconia B1, the company has recently revised this target to 10 million units.
